Citroen c8 2.0 hdi misfire upon initial startup

Unread post by chrishants »

Hi,
I have a 2005 Citroen c8 with 86000 miles which has started to misfire upon initial start up, however, after about a minute or so it clears and runs fine.
no fault codes are displayed.
I have had it identified to No 1 injector, as when running lumpy and that injector is disconnected there is no alteration to its running behaviour.
The options are
1. a faulty injector
2. a dirty injector
3. an air leak in the fuel line , causing fuel to leak back overnight

Any thoughts or ideas welcome

thanks
Chris

Surely a single cylinder misfire that completely clears after a minute of running could also be a failed glow plug ?

Unlikely on an Hdi unless you live in Siberia, they don't need glow plugs for starting under normal circumstances.

It could possibly be the injector although I have never had one cause that problem, ot it could be that you have low compression on that cylinder, again unusual especially at that mileage but possible, or it could be a valve leakage problem.

The easiest way to find out is do a compression test, or if its OK when its warm don't do anything.
