406 Rough Wheel Bearing

Post by evilally »

I've been fitting new dampers to the 406 this weekend, and notice that the front passenger wheel bearing doesn't sound that great. There is no discernible play as far as I can tell, but it does have a rough/metallic kind of sound when I turn it. Worth dropping off the hub with a trusted local garage to get it changed? Normally I wouldn't worry about it, but since the hub is off the car? I can add it to my list of other discovered items, 2x CV boots, strut mount and lower ball joint :(

Definitely worth doing Ally. If it's on the way it's not going to get better so yes...

If one side is starting to go the other side may not be so far behind so get both done whilst it's convenient to do so

Cheers Jim, will get on the blower to my tamed mechanic. I've already done the other side and it was ok. In retrospect, I should have dropped both struts at the same time rather than doing one side at a time, then I could have replaced things in pairs.......c'est la vie.
