Hi
I'm ignorant of mechanical things so help needed please.
I recently bought a 2004 petrol Xsara 1.4 and the engine when running on open roads won't get past around 75 Deg. If I stop in traffic it does get higher but otherwise the temperature stays on the low side. Is this something I should get fixed? I'm guessing yes and worry about winter coming up. Someone said the thermostat was knackered but I'm wondering if this is correct given that it does heat up a bit when stationary. ( mind you not as much as I'd expect )
Anyway what would you chaps recommend?
Thanks

Re: Xsara won't heat up
Thermostat sounds about right to me - if it sticks open it'll just about warm up when stationary but when you're moving it'll overcool.
