Most of you will know that my son blew the engine on his fiesta. He has a puma 1.7 that he was going to use for a donor but has been tour it is a major operation to do it, different mounts and loom etc. His fiesta is a 53 plate 1.4 zetec. He also has, which he bought for scrap value an escort 1.6 with a knackered body but good engine. Would anyone know how easy it would be to use the escort engine in the fiesta. The escort is a V plate. If that would work then he doesn't break a puma, he wants a track car he can track the puma which would be far easier to do than the fiesta

Pass.. A ford forum might have better idea. The first thing is to compare, and see if mounts are in the same places on both cars!

It's never that easy, go to the breakers and get an engine from the same model or forget the idea and sell the car for spares.

Before the days of electronic control I fitted Perkins diesels into about a dozen different cars with only mechanical problems to overcome, I don't think I would attempt it with a modern engine unless it was identical and the ECU went with it.

Even with this non Ford forum you are all agreeing with what I think. He wants a fast track car, the puma with a few mods, that's sorted. Go to a scrappy and get a 1.4 fiesta engine out of approx the same age of fiesta, or scrap it. Scrap the escort. Buy something fun but economical and newer for his daily. Eg a delivery mileage previous model 107 or C1 aka Mr cj. He did drive my 107 when I had it and liked it so that's my advice to him. I suppose he will do what he wants. He still has a bit of a wish for an old 205 as he likes older stuff.

Davie, that's precisely what I think.

1.4 Fester engines should be as common as muck in scrappies and not that expensive either. I've done the same job on a 1.25 Fiesta in the past. Engine was cheap and the job was easy enough. Lift the car off the engine! Old one out and new one in.

I can see his love for a 205, especially a GTi. They're getting rare and expensive now and I always regret parting with my 205GTi..
