I removed one of the rear lateral windows on my CX Prestige as rust showing underneath on like the sill bit, to chop out completely needed to remove window.
Any how was fixed on with a thick rubber adhesive strip and some kind of silicone.
Does any body know where I can get the rubber strip or similar and what it's actually called.
What I can say is it took me absolutely ages to remove and I found it hardest CX job ever had to do, was so worried about breaking it.
Cheers David

Re: citroen CX Rear lateral window adhesive??
these windows are bonded in, below is an ebay link to the type of adhesive you require
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WINDSCREEN-GL ... 0240015556" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;,
you will also almost certainly require the plastic clips that hold the stainless steel trims in place, as they usually break whilst removing the old bonding,
on re/fitting you assemble all the trim onto the glass, then bond it in place as one unit,
as it happens i recently acquired a pile of those clips new,
were are you located

Re:
I can remember my Dads CX side window blowing out on the motorway, we found it intact and he had it re fitted, that was with a rubber that had a heating element in it. did go with a bang when it blew out!!addo wrote:Some older screens were bonded with a "rubber" stripping that either air cured or was heat accelerated with an integral heater wire. Judicious use on a modern glazing polyurethane and suitable primer is probably the best refitting option.

yep thats what we used to use back in the day Adam, but i dont see why the modern day adhesive can be used to re/fit them, addo wrote:Some older screens were bonded with a "rubber" stripping that either air cured or was heat accelerated with an integral heater wire.
i think it would be easier

Re: citroen CX Rear lateral window adhesive??
My first 1979 CX was a bit of a rust bucket and after dealing with rust and leakage around the rear quarter lights I refitted the glass using beads of silicone rubber which worked well. Nowadays however I think I would prefer to use air curing polyurethane sealant - it is versatile for all sorts of sealing jobs and mechanically stronger than silicone. It is readily available on ebay.
