C5 HDi parts interchangeability with Xantia HDi

Post by Northern_Mike »

Rattiva 2, the Xantia 110 HDi is finally dead.

As both my bro and I have C5 MK1 110HDi cars, I was wondering if there's anything at all worth keeping from the Xantia. In tank pump? Injectors? HP pump?

If anyone wants the whole car as a spares car, make an offer. It'll be scrap value. It just about runs due to HGF.

Apart from the engine and gearbox there are not many similarities but it would be worthwhile removing the in tank pump as they can give problems. Injectors rarely need replacing as evidenced by the number on ebay at give away prices. I have only once replaced an HP and that turned out not to be faulty, it was the pressure regulator on the pump so it would be well worth taking that off as they do give problems. Starter and alternator are the only other things I can think of.

Altinators on C5s feature a Clutched Pully, unlike the Xantia.. though they should be compatible.

Other then mechanical items NOTHING else is..

Engine and Box, but thats about it... INFACT, I even think the gearbox is different mike, and it could be a PUSH clutch rather then a pull clutch.

nothing in the car will pass over either, because the Xantia is standard harness setup, wile the C5 is multiplex...

Basically, the C5 was a NEW Clean plate with JUST the 8v hdi engine carried over, and that was it!

OH, wheels and tyres WILL fit the C5 too from the xantia!

I've already got two sets of horrid centreless alloys, I don't require another!

If they are steel rims you might want to consider them for snow tyres and chains. No use to me though, as they are too big for Gracie.

They are the exclusive alloys from an S2 Xantia. Centreless horrid things. Even nastier than the C5 centreless alloys on the Berlingo and my C5.

Mike, what year was Rattiva??? The ECU may be a Cruise Control compatible ECU.. for that, the ECU, CPH and set of keys (just for the transponder) will be WELL WORTH keeping for a handy upgrade!!!

Would you be willing to grab the ECU and CPH and keep a key???

CPH is easilly - well is removeable from behind the dash after the glove box is removed!

It could be worth keeping the alloys if the tyres are semi decent as they sell for an OK amount of money so I'd be tempted to drive it the scrap place and remove the wheels and other bits there and then as it will only get crushed.
Injectors while not often needing replacing are worth keeping, for the simple fact it costs little to keep them and get them cleaned and checked and then fit them if ever needed.
Turbo could be worth keeping as they clog up with age so a good clean out with oven cleaner is easy enough to do and then you have a spare turbo as well.
Dont forget if its an exclusive the hydractive stuff is worth keeping as well and leather bits :)
