Citroen service + sedre

Post by harryp »

Hi all,

Not sure where to post this ( Mods please move as necessary?? :? ).... but am having problems getting the above installed.

During installation, (having tried installing an earlier version previously) it never asks for either the installation code or the activation code :o . When installing, after each disk I get an installation error and then prompt for next disk. I also get 2 "cannot find file(sorry did not write down name) on the disk in the drive :? ; why? disk incomplete? Finish comes up and I reboot as per instruction. I also get an error code regarding the version of adobe, but it has the latest version installed. It will not run . Tried un-install, re-install 3 times to no avail :( . So... tried installing minimalist version (very quick) to have to use disks for info when prompted, but on starting I get the front page and having selected the/any vehicle, it does not respond. With internet connected it opens explorer and tells me I do not have permission, which I almost expected. As you may imagine, this is taking considerable time and I am getting a little annoyed with the whole process.
I have a few questions.

When I un-install the program, the SEDREAC directory is not removed and I can find no way of removing it. I presume the installation and activation codes must be hidden in there somewhere from the initial loading of the earlier version (2012) and they may not be compatible with the version I am trying to load (2013, different supplier). If this is the case, how do I remove the SEDREAC directory in order to start again? If not, where the hell are they? :?

I am using windows 7 32 bit (on a tower PC); is this compatible?

Will it run under Windows XP if not?

Going by the error msg, is it that this must NOT be run on the internet for similar reasons as per Lexia :?:

I am really getting frustrated and sit surrounded by torn out hair. How difficult can it be to load software :( ?

Any guides or pointers as to where I am failing will be very welcome as I feel on occasion I am ready to completely throw in the towel   .

Apologies for the length of this post, but thought the more info the better :?: . (to say nothing of the therapeutic effect of getting it off my chest )

BTW, on a completely different note, enjoyed the XM 25 at Cosford on Saturday :-D .
Regards, Harry

i doubt i can be of much help with this, but i think is has been said on here to use a complicator ( computer ) just dedicated to your DIS-LEXIA,
and certainly do not let it anywhere near the internet,
so a blank complicator with the bare minimum to run a fully loaded version od DIS-LEXIA

HI Citronut,
I do have a dedicated "complicator" for the Lexia. Problem is I unthinkingly bought an elderly HP to run XP. The hard drive doesn't work, so loading software is unnecessarily complicated, hence loading the "service" on my much faster desk top. Should have bought a Toshiba!!
I was really looking forward to using the "service" to assist on my Exclusive.

As a follow up, contacted the vendor and am being sent 2 new disks. They are also enquiring as to where the codes are restored and how to remove them. Will post solutions if and when sent, as I seems to be that a newer version cannot be installed over an old one???

As a suggestion for your HP Harry A mni solid state drive in a suitable adaptor cradle may work as a replacement.. It sped my 14 year old Dell up no end and XP loads in about 30-45 seconds rather than the 2 or 3 minutes plus...with the old drive.

While solid state isn't cheap it is ruddy fast. This PC I am working on has them for the O/S. Beforehand it had a pair of drives running RAID0, and (according to Windows 7 benchmark) scored 5.4, but now scores 7.5. If you do go solid state DON'T run defrag. They don't need it, and the memory cells have a finite limit on read/write cycles.

If you're only looking for an operating system and Lexia then you won't need more than 15GB. A 30GB MSATA SSD from EBuyer is only £27.50..you'll then need a MSATA to IDE adaptor to allow it to fit the HP, but that'll only be another £15 max and for £40 you've turned an old relic into a reasonably fast useable machine.

You might also want to see how much memory the laptop can take, and roughly how much it would cost to upgrade the laptop to the maximum RAM possible.
