Leaking injection pipe

Post by Barry1 »

Hi all I've a 2001 2.0 HDI Evasion/Synergie and cant get the pipe to one of the injectors to stop leaking it's tight but after a run she stinks of diesel and has a nice puddle of it under the injector,on tick over it's fine but after raising the revs it leaks from the joint where it joins the injector.
Any ideas please,Thanks

How do these seal? If it's tight i'm guessing either the sealing surfaces are damaged in some way or there's a foreign body in there stopping the sealing surfaces mating correctly.

Indeed, especially the looped pipe between the pump and fuel rail. The crack can be so tiny as to be completely invisible even under a magnifying glass...

If in doubt swap and replace immediately as a leaky injector delivery pipe is very dangerous. A spray of diesel can be emitted that can cut skin like a scalpel and that will result in a case of dermatitis that can take ages to heal if it inflicts a cut. It will inject diesel under the skin.

Be very careful around that pipe.

Thanks for the replies, it's the pipe from the rail to the right hand injector (1 or 4?) and it leaks at the joint between the pipe and the injector.

The official line is that the pipes should be replaced every time the couplings are undone.
I don't think that's strictly necessary, but it's clear that the seals are easily damaged; I'd replace the pipe straight away.

Citroen only supply them in pairs:

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00001570A1 OUTLET PIPE 30.13 GBP 36.16 GBP 36.16 GBP

00001570A2 OUTLET PIPE 30.20 GBP 36.24 GBP 36.24 GBP

A1 is the flywheel end 2 injectors, and A2 the cambelt end. Available on the 'bay for about 1/2 the Citroen price =D>

I've only seen 2nd hand ones on ebay so I thought I would have the same problem with those as I have with mine!

Hi Malcolm
I googled them and only got eastern European sites !! the 2 you found are a great price, do you have a way of finding out the Peugeot part numbers for the same pipes because the ones you found are for a later vehicle, but I'll bow to greater knowledge and order them.Mind you if there wrong I'll be in East Sussex (Hailsham) next week visiting my sister in law. LOL

Barry

If you post up the VIN of your car I can check those are the right part Nos (but I am sure they are). Pug part numbers will be the same - which variant have you actually got?

Thanks for that Richard
The VIN no is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] and it's a 2.0 HDI 8valve (I think)

why Peugeot as your wagon is a Citroen,
the Pug No.'s will be exactly the same for the same year/spec equivalent wagon,

here is price and part No.'s for your chassis No. from service citroen,

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00001570J7 OUTLET PIPE 17.19 GBP 20.63 GBP 20.63 GBP

00001570J8 OUTLET PIPE 17.23 GBP 20.68 GBP 20.68 GBP

this pair/part No. 1570J8 is 1 and 3 injector if you call the cam belt end No. 1 ( even though the manufacturer call it No. 4 :? )

and this pair/part No. 1570J7 is 2 and 4

and below is the one from the pump to the injection rail

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00001570F2 OUTLET PIPE 18.29 GBP 21.95 GBP 21.95 GBP

ps.

you could always give this company a call

http://www.merlindiesel.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

as they supply diesel components and know what they are talking about
