Hello all,
Could anyone maybe point me in a good direction with this issue? Have had my 405 2.0 GTX petrol auto for a couple of years now with no problems at all. For the last three weeks it has started cutting out on random occasions; when affected it won't idle at all and you have to constantly restart it. After 5-10 minutes it will start to behave and then be fine. This can happen when the car is cold or hot, and with a full tank or nearly empty tank. Revs cleanly and drives fine but just won't idle.
Garage checked it out last week and could find no faults. Only thing I could point to are that it started a day after driving through a car wash, but that was three weeks ago now!
Anyone have any suggestions?

Turns out it was the idle air control valve, luckily I had a spare one in my barn full of spares...

Haha, wish I'd seen this. Our 1.8 406 had the same issue, cleaning the idle control valve sorted it. Common on XU engines apparently.
