C8 passengers airbag fault alert

Hi Folks,

I'm new to posting here but I have been following the forum a few years.

I have C8 with has an airbag fault alert. I bought it 6 months ago with the fault because I read that there was a recall because of condensation from the air con cusing the fault in the passengers air bag. Sure enough there seems to be condensation marks in the passengers footwell. However when I called Basingstoke Citroen garage and gave them my reg they said there were no recalls on my car.

My uncle who is a retired Autospark back in Belfast sugessted that I have the fault cleared to see if it comes back.


Any suggestions please folks?

I would first arrange for a Lexia session to see what that indicates. On my Xantia, for example, the side airbag light was on, but it turned out the fault was not the common one (of poor connection in the seat plugs) but a failed side ECU. Replacing that resolved the problem.

Some of the forum members have Lexia equipment that they are willing to use to help out other members.

You wont be able to just clear the faults & see if it comes back. If the fault goes away on these systems the light goes out by itself on next start up (although a fault code will remain in the memory). If the light is on that suggests the fault is still present so it probably wont clear. There is a common fault on C8's with poor splicing of wires for the side & curtain airbags, the splices are under the carpets next to the outsides of the seats. Best to get it on lexia first & see what comes up, if this is the problem the fault code that comes up says something along the lines of open circuit of side & curtain airbag in series.
