XANTIA SPHERES
Hi all can anyone tell me if my 1994 xantia 1.9 td would have hydractive suspension or not, and are the spheres inter-changeable and is there any way of telling which is which by just looking at them many thanks

Re: XANTIA SPHERES
The easiest way to be certain is to lift the bonnet and measure the diameter of the feed pipe to the top of the front suspension struts.
If it's Hydractive they will be 10mm in diameter and then join to a large diameter flexible hose that is bolted to the side wing.
If it's not Hydractive the pipe will be 3.5mm in steel only with no rubber section. Below is an example of the small size pipe on a car that is NOT Hydractive:

The strut spheres are not interchangeable between Hydractive and non-Hydractive.

As a matter of interest mandrake, I phoned Pleidaes on 01487 831239 and they could not have been more helpful, they said the difference between the two spheres is that the small hole in the standard one is about 1.5mm and less than 1mm in the hydractive one so I can check the new ones before taking the old ones off, very helpful

Thanks northern Mike, it was your posting that gave me Pleidaes's phone number, I have now established that my xantia is non-hydractive, Citroen forum does it again!

The easiest way is to check if it has a sport switch next to the hand brake. If yes then its a hydractive.bill hughes wrote:Hi all can anyone tell me if my 1994 xantia 1.9 td would have hydractive suspension or not, and are the spheres inter-changeable and is there any way of telling which is which by just looking at them many thanks
