Hello all
I've been the proud owner of a C5 for about 6 months. For a few weeks, my horn has been slowly becoming more and more faint and would work only every so often. If i pushed the horn 10 times, it would sound maybe only twice. Anyway, ive been trying to actually get access to the horn itself...
where the hell is the horn located??
does anyone know?

Thanks so much!
Can I ask-how do you access the horn? do you access the horn from inside the bonnet? Or is it from the outside?
If you are aware of a guide of how to replace the horn, please can you let me know!
massive thanks

No guide on how to replace/remove the horn, at least, not available to me ... it should be a double horn, new unit price is approx 45 GBP at the Citroen Dealer ... you could find a used one on ebay, don't know about the price ... try to find the Citroen that is being broken for parts ... if I recall correctly, the underside of the headlamp is cramped and not easily accessible, I think either the front bumper, or the front side wheel arch must come off to access the horn ... if the car has the under engine protection in place, that's also one way you can't go, unless you take it off first ...

Same location as the MK1 C5 which i replaced recently. You need to take off the undertray to access the horn units. Make sure you have a current to the horns before buying new units. I fitted a single tone air horn i purchased off eBay for £11, its perfectly legal and twice as loud. Its quite amusing watching people leap into the air when i press the horn.

Are these horns adjustable? In the old days there was a screw which would need turning a quarter turn or so to make it work if the sound was getting fainter.
Mind you, those were the days when you could actually fix something rather than just replacing it.(I think it maybe put tension on a vibrating membrane or something)

... and the whole thing is properly earthed. Lots of stuff earths through the mounting bracket or a short wire to the chassis, and if anything is loose, damp-cruddy-corroded, it won't take enough current under load although a ohmmeter might show it is OK.Make sure you have a current to the horns before buying new units

Not sure since I haven's seen one in the open, but I think there's nothing on it to adjust the horn sound ... I could be wrong though ...
