C3 brake pads - 08 petrol 1.4 8v

Post by Road_Hog »

I've ordered some Pagid front pads.

But they're too big, the pads themselves and the two tail ends. Before I have the conversation tomorrow, I thought I'd just ask what may be the problem. The paperwork is right (I used the online reg checker) and the box indicates C3 02 -

Might these be boxed wrongly and be 10 - models are perhaps 1.6 16v ones.

There appear to 3 fitting types. I suspect yours will have the smallest with non-vented discs. Post up the last 8 digits of the VIN, and we can check which are fitted, then you can get the right ones from the supplier.

Online reg checkers are not always correct. The one on Mr Auto used to report that my early S2 Xantia was a S1!

It could also be that someone has changed the callipers in the past and fitted different ones either accidentally or deliberately...

Last 8 digits of VIN are: 29091161

They are non vented discs.

CP4L, may be good to buy parts, but no good to return them to.

As I said, parts were wrong, even though the box was right. I've done the pads on this car before, so I'm reasonably experienced with it.

You have to phone up a so called dedicated number which then has the usual options. Then they tried to do automated with over the phone details, which failed at the first hurdle, couldn't even get my number, despite speaking very clearly and precisely.

Then they wanted me to drop it off at some Asian newsagents, to which I said no. Then you have to print out the returns form yourself, print out the sticky returns form and we all have the right size sticky labels ready for our printer.

Then I asked about a returns form to confirm they had been returned and was told the driver doesn't carry any paperwork and I'd have to make up something myself and print it out and the driver will come anytime between 9:00 and 7:00 tomorrow.

I can see that I'm going to have to chase the credit up as well. And no discussion about supplying the new parts and what went wrong.

Thanks for the help, right pads fitted, just cheapies (it's the wife's car and never gets up to speed or any distance). It was a shame really, 'cause the Pagid were a good deal at less than £22.

Got the refund a week later, but I think it'll be local factors from now on.
