Mike's C5 110HDi

Unread post by Northern_Mike »

Well, it's 6.10am on Saturday morning and I just boarded one of those train things to Darlington from Twyford. Pity the ticket machines were out of order and the office closed. I do have a paid ticket, but the only proof I have is the email on my phone.

I love trains. Like piles.

Car is actually paid for and insured - a grand total of £178 per year. There's some benefits to getting old...

I should arrive in Darlington at 11.13am.

Well, all I can report is that the car, is of course, exactly as Chris described it, drives spot on and has averaged 44mpg over the 100 miles or so I've done in it down to Hartshead Moor services on the M62.

Oh I'm sure it will. It's really rather nice and well worth the trip. I particularly like the economy, the cruise that Chris fitted, and the aux audio input lead poking out the rear ashtray.

Only fault I can find is, as is normal, the wheels need balancing. I know Chris tends not to go as fast as I do so won't have noticed.. No big deal, the rest of the car is spot on

Forgot to add, it was valeted this morning and had an oil and filter last week. Amazing value, can't thank Chris enough.

Must be your age. It's only 1.5cm wider than a Xantia, I suggest an eye test :P

It's also hilariously economical if you stick it on cruise at 60mph and just let it do it's own thing. Did that all the way from Hartshead moor services down to Junction 4 of the M40.

Haven't got cruise on mine but when I came down to Peterborough I did notice that it was more economical at 80 than 50

I need to get it on a Lexia to check the fuel levels when light comes on a few times, because if it's consistent I got an amazing mpg out of it. Light came on 3 miles before Hartshead Moor services, so I put £20 in at £1.459 a litre , intending to fill it at Asda near my mum's at 10p/litre less, then had a doze, was running late, so didn't call in. Stuck it on cruise, 60mph, and just pottered all the way home. The light came on 6 miles before I got home.

It's 229 miles from HHM services to here. I know PeterN reckons he gets amazing mileage from never going over 2000rpm, it looks like it may be the case.
