Warm up issue? Faults P0102, P0112, P0488, P0490, P0409

Unread post by osx »

Lately when I start the car it will take about 2-3 minutes before I can accelerate properly from low revs. If I switch the gearbox to manual and drive keeping revs over 2000 everything is ok but once revs drop under 1500 the car almost loses all power. Once it warms up everything is ok. Any ideas?

In the sig Malc. :)

The early C5s like mine have a supplementary heater in the cooling system as HDi's do heat up very slowly due to their efficiency.
Couldn't say if the x7 is the same but if it is perhaps this has failed somehow - hopefully just a fuse.

I was thinking about that. Seems everything started after replacing Eolys fluid.

Hmm, how long did it go between the warning coming on and the refill? You need to get it on a Lexia - I would be checking the DPF pressure drop amongst other things...

It is probably the MAF sensor. Disconnected it and didn't seem to have any problems after a startup (engine was idle for 5 minutes a couple of hours earlier though). Will give a go again tomorrow morning and see what happens. Easy repair if that's the problem.
Any clues of the part number? VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Tried it again with the MAF sensor disconnected. Car responsive from low revs from the start. Gave the MAF a good clean and will see what happens tomorrow. Getting a depollution system fault message which I guess is not surprising as I had the MAF sensor disconnected. Not sure if it will go away without a Lexia but will probably wait and see.

Cleaning the MAF sensor didn't solve the problem unfortunately so probably need to buy a new one. Fault message has disappeared as expected once the MAF reconnected. Until I get the new one would it do any harm disconnecting it? Not doing it's job anyway.

Before buying a new MAF is there anything else that could be causing the problem? If it had to do something with a clogged DPF I should still have the same problem with the MAF disconnected, shouldn't I?

BTW Passed MOT without any problems yesterday

Ordered a new MAF as they were on sale and relatively cheap.
