Yet another adventure....... Peugeot 407 GT Coupe

Post by Trainman »

Well, I suppose today is the time to start this blog, it's 06:40 in the morning and SWMBO and I are on on Preston station on our way to Glasgow to pick up the car from David, This will be my first foray into Peugeot ownership, so quite looking forward to that as well.

The car shares a number of similarities of the C6, Particularly around the centre control, both cars have the RT4 satellite navigation system and radio telephone.

Anyway, that's the start of the blog sorted.......

Well Steve and SWMBO have just departed in the 407. Was a sad sight watching is disappear round the corner of the house and that lovely purr from the exhaust as Steve drove off :(

It really has been a fantastic car in the time that I've had it and I've not had to do anything to it other then a niggle when I bought it, the car kept alarming that there was a bulb failure at the rear. This was cured by replacing the loom in the rear lights.

I really hope the car behaves for Steve like it has done for me.

Steve, was nice to see you again and nice to meet Mrs. Trainman!

Enjoy the car :) Mind... If you ever come to sell it I want first refusal!!

David.

A very nice trio of V6's you now have Steve.

Is that a V18 Mark

I can admit and confess there's something addictive about a V6 engine. I hope soon you'll be able to indulge.

I do well, I have 3, 4 and 6 cylinder cars :-D They each have their charms

We arrived back sometime ago, however, had a couple of things to do, The run back was....... well, it was great, from leaving David's to coming off the M6 we averaged 64mph at 33.8mpg most of it was in 6th gear, with the exception of a couple of places where the 'knights of the road' decided to try and overtake each other, both doing 56mph, both trying to go uphill on a 2 lane stretch of motorway.

The Peugeot is a dream to drive, once I remembered it was manual (yes I did stall it  ) It's eerily quiet in the car, and you don't hear the engine running and keep having to check the rev counter is moving when you come to traffic lights and such... 8-[

Pleased?.......... NO!!.............. I'm well CHUFFED

Glad to hear you're pleased with the car :) It really is quite a special car the 407 Coupe, it's so quiet and smooth and is actually incredibly well put together!

Hope she behaves for you like she has for me over the last 12 months!!

Very pleased indeed Steve :-D

Manual V6s are eerily quiet and it just goes to show just how much racket an automatic gearbox makes. It's quite surprising.

The other noise reduction is the fact that's it's double glazed like the C6.

Changing the subject slightly, it's already thrown me a bit of a conundrum. The car has the RT4 head unit, which has a 10gb hard drive for storing music, so why is there a 6 CD Changer in the boot?

So that you can enjoy a CD without having to firstly rip it and load it onto the hard drive Steve...

Ah, but here's the interesting bit, the CD Changer isn't showing in the source file....... looks like a job for Peugeot Planet........ now what's that code number that Citroen use?

Well I didn't get a thing done this afternoon, SWMBO "had plans" this did not involve me spending some quality time with Peugeot, it did involve me spends copious amounts of cash on things for her garden.........

David mention the hat he thought there was a problem with the air con when I picked the car up the he other day, I've noticed she's not cooling the cabin down to well, so she is booked in to have the air con refilled tomorrow.
