citroen 3 litre xantia rear wiper not working

Hi,
I have a problem with a rear wiper on my Xantia 3ltr. For a few years it worked occasionally, now it doesn't work at all.
Has any members experience this? Also would anybody have a circuit for this model, as there is no Haynes manual available for the 3ltr model? Also it would be helpful to know what fuse is used by the rear wiper motor on the 3ltr.

Any advise or information would be appreciated, but a circuit diagram would be of a great help.

The motor is probably seized. It's a common Xantia failing.

You could try this before taking the rear door and wiper motor apart... I had previously overhauled my wiper motor, but it was still sticky and on occasion wouldn't work so,after removing the wiper arm, I just let some old engine oil trickle down between the spline and the tube it runs through with the wiper switch turned on.. if it won't turn give it a hand by putting the wiper arm back and lightly give a hand... this worked for me.. 9 months later and no more problems.. I'm making this part of my pre winter check.

Thanks to the both of you, I think it must be seized, as I cannot move the blade, I shall take a look at the general Xantia manual that I have, to get instructions on motor removal. Though I suspect if the motor has seized that the fuse may also have blown due to extra current drawn by the motor.

The overhaul procedure is laid out in a post on the forum.. basically you need access to an electric drill a small drill bit and some 6mm bolts and nuts about 3cm long... and it would ne an idea to buy some of this stuff

to reseal the plastic waterproof inner.
I've just added these bits of plastic to the liner in the hope that the self tappers will keep the plastic membrane and seal in contact with the door as it tends to come away with time as the boot door is slammed shut.

Hi all,
I bought a motor assembly(s/h) off ebay for £4.95 fitted it the rear wiper now works.
But having removed the case from the old assembly by drilling the heads off the three bolts the old motor now works, if I apply power direct to the motor it now works, I guess that I have freed up something, or the cooper contacts on the contact rings were poor. I cleaned them up and applied new grease, and shall put it all together, then try it on the car. Useful as a spare.
