Xantia spoiler

Post by Xantia97 »

Hi All,
This may be the last daft question from me, but I doubt it

Can anyone tell me the correct position for the rear spoiler on an S1, measurements for holes etc. please. There is not one locally that I can look at, not sure if it's supposed to line up with the slight 'v' of the hatch or overhang the hatch.

All suggestions gratefully received.

Stempy, do S2 V6's not come fitted with a spoiler from the factory ? Mine has one and looks identical to yours:

The S1 V6 I'm buying doesn't have one, which is a shame...

Thanks guys, very helpful.
Unfortunately the spoiler arrived yesterday and although advertised as OEM style it is not - much longer sides and much lower to the boot - so has to go back, if the seller ever replies to me!! Difficult to get one a second-hand one in France so far, the biggest scrapyard in Brest has only two Xantias they are breaking, neither with a spoiler, there is one way down south but I would have to buy the whole tailgate at 100 euros - it's a S2 so no use keeping. Think I will have to look at costs of shipping one over from the UK.
Glad you've found another V6 Simon.

I think they were an option at the point of sale but also available as an aftermarket fitment. You could always keep the spoiler from your current car and fit it to the next one. I found a new genuine primered C5 spoiler going cheap on ebay so I bought it and had it colour matched. Just have to find time to fit it now.

You may find there were two styles of OEM spoiler.

True, but this is way too big for the car, it rests on the rear screen rubber and looks totally ridiculous. The sellers now want photos of it on the car and I've just wrapped it up and added more bubble-wrap

As far as I'm aware, rear spoilers didn't come as standard with V6's as they were considered a gentlemen's GT rather than sporty. The sporty version of the Xantia was considered to be the Activa which did come standard with a rear spoiler.

The two versions of spoiler, I think there was the usual one which is shown in the photo above, but also another which comes with a high level brake light built in. I had one of these in the garage at one point and I seem to remember that one being a bit more low slung. It doesn't sound like the one you have described though as it didn't overhang.

All three cars have the spoiler I'm after - can it really be that difficult to get one!!
I'll post some photos of the one I received tomorrow and await the comments!

I thought Simon might be putting it on the new V6?
I know Paul (CitroenXM) has two but the problem is getting one to France, it would have to be via courier. No-one coming to France on holiday are they?
Who'd have thought getting parts for a French car in France would be so difficult!

Where abouts in France? We might be over there in August sometime. Missus wants a few days away.. I pointed out that Paris is closer than Scotland, so France it is (though not Paris!)

Bourbriac, 22390, Brittany - about as far west from Paris as you can get - beautiful coastline, plenty to see....
If you came over I'd be happy to meet somewhere further to the east.
