rear hub nut drums

Post by creon »

So I'm in the process of opening the hub nut on rear drum for cleaning handbrake adjustment etc. Passenger side is undone drum is off but drivers side is a bit stubborn and my cheapo breaker has snapped, just wondering before I attempt with my new bar if they are normal threads that open on anti clockwise?

Don't want to get answered the hard way so its handy if the forum knows, cheers guys.

While I am unable to answer your question (no Peugeot knowledge), I do know that the first question that needs to be asked is what vehicle is it?

the slandered 2 foot half inch drive breaker bar should be find, once you have moved the nut parst the peening they come undone easily,

what usually breaks breaker bars is bouncing on them in the attempt to undo a very tight nut,

steady continuous pressure is best and helps keep you bar for a longer time

cracked the nut after getting a decent bar, so i blame the tools :)

Ive now replaced both handbrake cables and im on reassembly, not gone too bad but im concerned about one wheel bearing on the rear. when tightening the hub nut back up the drum wont spin, easing off a bit and it will rotate but then the nut is too loose. but tightened up properly the drum is impossible to turn by hand and its not the brakes binding.

the other side is fine no problems, have i damaged the bearing as I was a bit rough getting the drum off?

did the bearing come apart on removing the drum ( either of the inner race's come out )?????,

is so maybe you lost if it had one the spacer collar that is sometimes found between the inner and outer bearing ( all be it both bearing are as one unit ) ,

ive reassembled after looking for any lost pieces, rolled back a forth and it seems to have improved. il get the ub nut tourqed up and staked.

are the bearings on the drums replacable or do the drums and bearing come in one. ive seen some kits on ebay not sure if it applies to all 306 rear drums.

The bearing is available separately. You've got to get the old one out mind you....
