C5 2.0 HDi 16v Cambelt slippage..

Post by KP »

Has anyone had any experience of this at all?

I've been offered a very very cheap one but they reckon the cambelt has been poorly fitted and the car no longer starts.

From a quick recall i think the chances are its snapped some lobes on the top end and is out of time, and worst case scenario is that the head has to come off, which is easier said than done with the injectors being welded in so a second hand head is probably a better bet than a recon and then possibly having to get injectors sorted on top of that, a general fluids serivce, cambelt and aux belt kit and tensioners and water pump... Im reckoning it would be at least £500 in parts alone and either a solid weekend of work or a day at a local specialist and another £500....

Anyone got any advice or tips?
Any easy way to check if i go view the car without taking bits off it other than looking for missing aux belt?
