Valeo Standalone RF Locking Boxes

Post by addo »

I'm referring specifically, to the Valeo ELE CIM491CT as used in Berlingos and maybe some D8 406s.

When you're programming in a key, what access code are you prompted for (or not at all)? They seem to have a unique five character (hex?) identifier below the barcode. The schematic doesn't really seem to interface with the engine immobiliser module at all.

Reason I'm asking is because they're dear as poison new, but if they can be re-used they're cheap as chips second hand - mainly from the continent. It'd be nice to use a Valeo RF unit in my S1 405 as well, the Asian kit I bought was so unreliable on the bench I didn't install it.

Thanks, Adam.

Here's one:

What's got me puzzled is no line to the diagnostic port.

Cant think that I have ever seen that setup before, the most similar setup I can think of is later Saxos with RF plip, if I remember right you don't need a code, lexia just runs through it & asks you to press the remote button twice.

I recently replaced this box on my D8 406. The information out there was a bit confusing, but if I have understood it correctly, it is possible to pair a key and a box if the immobiliser is still present. As mine had the immobiliser removed long ago, I ended up buying a fob circuit board and box from a scrapper for £25.

Fate seems to have smiled on me, even Alastair will laud this one... Blagged a new RF box and two remotes (NOS kit) for £99 on the 'bay. One fob alone is listed at more.

So I have my Berlingo covered - but I'll try pairing used fobs to the new box and see if it can be done. If so, then I'll buy a used unit and put in the 405 to replace the IR rubbish.

Good catch. Let us know how you get on plumbing it into the 405. The RF system only seemed to work when you got right up to the door, by which time might as well use the key.
