Hi, Never owned a 1.4 petrol BX before so want to know if there's any known problems with them please.
Also a few questions.
1. Is this engine cam chain or belt
2. Correct engine oil grade and the best oil to use.
3. Ok to use Forte fuel cleaner / carb cleaner
4. Can the carburettor be computer tuned and is it worth doing
5.whats spark plugs should I use
6. What mpg should I be getting round town and motorway
7. how do I check if the struts/ mounts are ok (77,000 genuine mileage) Do they go bang like on the Series 1 xantia's.
Thanks all.

Re: 1989 BX 14E 77k miles
depends on its age as the early 1.4 ( pug 104/Visa ) engine with the gear box in the sump, 20/50 mineral oil
and the later ones had the TU ( Saxo and the likes ) lump, 10/40 semi synthetic
the early engine has a timing chain the TU has a timing belt,
the TU is a very easy engine to work on and in the BX you can almost climb in the engine bay with it,
both the early 1.4 and the TU have a basic carb but the later TU has the mono point injection ( looks like a carb to the lay man )
i have never heard of a BX strut top spearing the bonnet,
also you might get more responce over on the FCF's sister forum, although i would suspect your already registered over there
