So I change my CPH and ECU

Post by Northern_Mike »

But it still starts with the original key... haven't changed the ignition lock yet.

It shouldn't do that should it?

No, unless the new engine ECU is unlocked.

Well, it did... It was David's ECU and CPH from the V6...

Ah. Which is actually my original ECU and CPH. And yes, that ECU is unlocked, so no immobiliser.

What was wrong with your original ECU's ?

Ah, that explains it..

Nothing was wrong. I have a problem where the heater fan, heated rear window and electric seats (movement) don't work. The first two at least are usually the ignition switch. As I've only the one key it made sense to buy the whole lot with the door locks from David..

Sadly it's not solved the problem. Spent a few hours this afternoon fiddling and fitting the new bits to no avail. So I'm sending them back up to David to solve his problem.

I've no fuses blown, nothing obvious. Just no power. Should a poke around the relevant fuses with a multimeter tomorrow reveal nothing, the scrap man is getting it on Friday. I'm not even sure which the relevant fuses for the fan, seats and HRW are yet.

I wonder if it is possible to re-lock the ECU and CPH?

Mike, do you have a Xantia owners' handbook? If not, I could lend you one of mine.

I did have one James but it's gone walkies. I imagine that there's something buggered somewhere on the car and I'd rather have the three-wheeler ( I did 700 miles in it this weekend) and a family rather than a recalcitrant Xantia V6 and a divorce. Scrap yard beckons. .. do you fancy the leather and the spoiler?...

Gracie doesn't have the wiring for electric seats, and citroenxm (Paul) is holding a silver spoiler for me (as well as a few other bits). I could lend you a handbook, and a Haynes BoL if they would help.

I doubt it would be difficult to wire in a permanent or switched live to power the seat motors. I don't think the heaters in them work.

That poor car lives in constant fear of getting the chop!

I can post the relevant wiring diagrams in PDF format later tonight if you like. What's your RPO number ?

I've already asked them to come and take it away as it won't be driveable due to bits missing from it... like battery, seats (if no one wants them, I'm making a leather adjustable chair for myself). Shame as it's got some decent spares like a newish pump, some newish spheres, CD autochanger etc

I'm terrible with electrics Simon.

I would love the seats, but I don't have space to store them, time to fit them/dismount the old seats, or (due to STILL being off work) the wherewithal for them. However, might I suggest you find anybody who wants to upgrade their Activa and let them know you have a V6 engine available (if they are quick!).

I should know, but I don't. All I know is that it's an early 1998 car, Series 2. It's at home and I am not..

I wouldn't mind knowing where it's supposed to get it's power from for these items, or what current the seat actually draws. That way I can mount it on a nice little frame with a 12v PSU and sit on it in the house...

Car is actually on eBay with a BIN of £295, but the man will come and take it away if it's not gone on Friday pm.

That fault will be a broken wire behind or feed to the fuse box!! One if the feeds has broke in typical french cable.

had this one an s2 .. no heated rear screen. One of the main feeds from the large fuses in the engine bay had lost connection. A quick connection had It sorted..
