C5 Front Seatbelts

Post by SwissSPEC »

For some reason, they don't go back into their drums anymore (since i've owned the car), they have to be fed back in & if aren't, take an absolute age to wind back up. Is this a common issue on these cars? Can they be fixed? if so any ideas? or is it simpler, & cheaper to just buy some 2nd hand one's that do work?

Mine did this on the drivers side, I pulled out the entire belt and cleaned with soapy water.

Worked for me might work for you, got to be worth a try.

The guides hidden by the trim tend to get dirty and sticky too.
Not a difficult job to expose and clean them, and can make a big difference.

Thanks for the tips guy's, i'll give the cleaning the belt a try 1st to see if that solves the issue, if not i'll have a go at cleaning the guides. I don't suppose there is a guide on exactly what to do in what sequence is there? I hate doing jobs for the 1st time without having much info incase it goes pear shaped & i break something or undo something that shouldn't have been undone.
