Intermittent Open Circuit in Xantia heater blower.

Post by PeterMann »

For no apparent reason, the ventilation fan in my 1994 2.0i 5 speed sometimes fails to run.
Some insight on where to find connections that may require cleaning would be most helpful.
Fuse 20 is intact.
Is the fan controller behind the slide control ?
The airconditioning circuit is also suspect, and I would like to check it before entrusting the system to an airconditioning tradesman.

Peter,
Assume it's a Xantia? The interior fan pulls all its power through the ignition switch, which is known not to be man enought for the job, and burns out. This can be rectified by finding a new feed and wiring in a relay to run the fan.
As to the air-con, not enough detail in your post, but there is unit called the 'Bitron' sensor which runs many of the aircon functions, and is also well known for having problems.

Peter,
Also look at this thread I started the other day with a very similar fault...
http://www.andyspares.com/discussionfor ... IC_ID=4797
Strangely I gave the car back to the owner after finding the motor resistor pack at fault, intending to order a new one after the weekend, only to find the fan started to work 90% of the time so they want to leave the expense 'till after Christmas.
I still would like a wiring diagram for the aircon circuit.
