i have an R reg XANT TD in today and i noticed the injector with the sensor attached to it, is on the third cylinder from the cam belt end,

when it is usually on the second one,

can this cause any issues

I'm surprised you don't have the ECU light on.
That sensor and the TDC sensor are used to adjust the pump timing slightly.

Are you sure that's not the correct place for it, Citroen engines are normally numbered one to four from the crankshaft end.

all the ones i have seen it been on the second injector from the cam belt end,

For "crankshaft" read "flywheel".

Don't think it will matter - 2 and 3 rise together, so fire at the same crankshaft position - OK so it's half a camshaft turn out, but think it only monitors crank position. I think if you put it on 1 or 4 then it would confuse the ECU!!
