2002 C15 diesel van engine cutting out Ideas Please?

Unread post by falling-out-with-my-car »

Hi, My Sons C-15 diesel engine van engine keeps cutting out, it has had a new fuel filter recently and we have checked the
earth cable beneath the battery tray which we found to be loose and killing all electrics some months ago.

would there be something else and has anyone got any ideas please, I know he tends to run the van with the fuel tank low
so I am thinking maybe water in the fuel lines but could there be anything else? it has a lucas fuel pump and hasn't ever had a sniff of the veg, in fact I must remove it from my signature as even I don't use it anymore.

Thanks in advance.
Nigel.

Check the fuel lines for cracks and air leaks. I'd bet it's that. My mum's C15 Romahome did this as did another friends C15.

cheers Mike,

Was that in any particular area of the fuel lines or just the whole thing?

that's just what I need peoples ideas, my near sightedness is not as good as it was when I had 20/20 vision and I have just had my cataracts replaced with new lenses giving me great long vision but very poor short vision. its a menace when trying to study anything up close even with glasses on. unfortunately the c-15 not having any clear fuel lines makes it harder to judge whether or not there is any air in the lines, on the xantia is easy because of the clear fuel line to the fuel pump.
