In a word, Yes of course. I THINK the centre relay is the feed to the fans...

easy way to tell if your fans are working, stick the air con on and the fans should come on low speed, I have got a picture of how the pug 306 fans ( pretty much the same set up) are wired if I can find it i'll put it up

Pretty sure the HDi doesn't bother to put the fans on till the temp is >100C - which is a bit concerning the first time it does it! You need a hot day in stationary traffic to get near to the fans coming on - unless the AC is running of course 8-)

I only once got the high speed fans on on my Xantia HDi - sat in traffic on a hot day (about the only one in Scotland in the last 6 years!), and AC off as SWMBO was complaining about it. After about an hour at nearly 30 she conceded and we put it on. Engine temp was around 100 - see above on fans temp - and then after about 30s of running the AC the fans went to high. Wow - what a noise, and the whole car was humming! Only lasted a minute or so till AC temperature and pressure came down.

Well, certainly on the HDi engine, but it is debateable as to if you can on other engines.

Hdi only have one temp sensor.. a blue one that gives all info the the ecu.. the engine main ecu controls the fans on the hdi not individual sensors.. making it a bit more black box rather then out right sensor.

im still hedge my bets on relay connection or an actual break in a wire. Which will be fun.

Of the 3 relays, 2 are of one type, 1 is a different type. Need to know exactly which engine you have to advise on part numbers and which go where. The relay protection box seems to be common across most Xantias, but there is more than 1 harness (with the all-important connectors). At least one harness is NFP (no longer available).

Would be a good idea to put your car details in your signature. If you post the last 8 digits of the VIN number, one of us will be able to look up the exact part numbers for your car, what other models they were fitted to and which relay goes where!

just because they look the same does't mean they are, compare the part numbers/ pictures on the sides (if they have them) before you put them in,

the last numbers on the vin number are 72280688

We look on the side at the pictures and numbers. They all seemed the same. Even the broken one looked the same. Which was the middle one. Wonder if they was all wrong at the first place. Could it have blown a fuse?
Like i say got the car really high temperature. The stop light was flashing. And the anti freeze was leaking out of the over flow pipe.
