C5 Eolys fluid top up help & info required

Post by oldchap »

my car ,a 2003 2.2 HDI 109k miles, intermittant showing of"diesel filter blocked" cleared with a regen run. A friendly garage mechanic put his code reader on it ,& amongst the codes there was "2 low fluid warnings" how ever these have never shown on the screen. Due to financial restraints over the next couple of months I wondered if it could be topped up with just 2ltr of Eolys & what, if any implications there might be. One garage said that the ECU might need to be renewed if the fluid had got to low ?? any advice would be very appreciated

Topped up my fluid a few years ago. Easy job to do if you can get good access under the car ( did mine on vehicle lift). Any decent diagnostic machine should be able to reset the counter.

The fluid is not cheap but should work out much cheaper IIRC 4.5lt bottle.

I suspose you could just put in 2lt and reset the counter, I guess you would not get low warning as the car will think its about half full when the 2 litres are gone.

Should be plenty of how to's on here, think I did one myself.

I also topped up my 2.2 but I only put a litre in, it lasts a long time.

thank you for the replies. Having spoken to my local Independent garage I was told it would be better to fill the Eolys tank & then reset the ecu & also to put in 10/20 ltr of fuel in the tank as this somehow lets the ecu know some vital piece of info???They would then do a forced regeneration to clear the DPF ( I suppose a 40mile run @ 2500 revs would do the same)
thanks again for the replies
