C5 1.8 petrol clutch judder

First time on this forum and first time owning a french car! I bought an 02 C5 1.8 petrol with 50Kmiles and one owner. Car is like new inside and out and has a full Citroen SH. Only thing I don't like - when pulling away from a stop the biting point/pickup on the clutch isn't clean/definite. There is a slight spongy point and I need to apply a bit more power to pull away. I'm not sure if this is a characteristic of the car or if it indicates a problem with the clutch. Aside from this the clutch is fine - not slipping or making any noises.
