CX and seatbelts

Unread post by macAU »

In the photographs of my recently acquired CX 'Familiale' I can only see seatbelts in the front. If the rear doesn't have them fitted are the anchorage points in the vehicle? Will it be simply a matter of buying the belts and bolting them into the car? I suppose that only a Safari or Familiale owner will be able to help although some of the wider CX group may know the answer.

im sure the mounting points are already in place, and if they have never been used they are usually covered over with some tape

Thanks for that Malcolm. In Australia at that stage seat belts were compulsory so my other CXs have seat belts for all seats. I wasn't sure what the rules were for England at that stage. Most cars of the period, particularly the more expensive ones, had the mounting points engineered in. All I will need to do is find the longer belts for the third row. The outer seat belts attach in the top rear corner of the cargo area and run along the top of the rear window until they drop down over the shoulder.

A bit slow updating here - Patrick informed me that belts for all seats were in the car, some installed and others in a package. I'd noticed a parcel behind the driver's seat in some pics so they must be what he referred to.

So that is another bit of the puzzle now dealt with. Thanks for those who helped/offered advice. :-)

Yep, from what I recall, rear belts were available as an option, until they were mandated so all the mounts etc. should be there.

Found that the seatbelts in the bag were front ones. Did manage to fit the to outside second row.

Ordered a pair of lap sash for third row - also a pair of lap belts. Now fitted so have eight belts and car can carry full passenger load in safety. :-D
