TDC Sensor ?

Hi, trying to locate the TDC Sensor ( sorry....but Iam a bit green ! ) I have a rev counter that works one time , then not another ! thanks in advance Terry. I have found a sensor close to the top of the gearbox.......would that be it ? :oops:

You might find the problem is with the connector just above it - if this is on the Xantia.

The TDC sensor is a THREE PIN BROWN plug in the same area Terry.

The sensor itself is accessed from under the car. Get it up on ramps, lie under the car, look up and above where the drivers drive shaft goes into the Gearbox Diff, look above there, and theres a 10mm bolt, this holds the clamp that holds the black sensor head. undo the bolt a few turns, then twiddle the sensor out. It could well be a dirty head.. Clean it up, push it back in BUT NOT ALL The way, as the end can get damaged if too far in!

Depends on the age of the car superloopy.

Early mechanical TD cars had the TDC sensor purely for the Rev counter as I said above. The TDC Crank Sensor on top of the bell house was added when the Pump got an ECU to control timing, from around 1997 ...

This replaced the flywheel TDC sensor in the "side of the diff"

Prehaps the ECU came sooner then.. or they are "inter compatible" ??
