206 Flat Battery

Unread post by demag »

My son and d-i-l have a 206 1.4hdi that hasn't been used for a while and the battery has gone flat. It's a base model without trip computer. I lent them my trickle charger today and he is going to put it on charge but disconnect the battery first. When it's charged is there any procedure to follow after re-connection, or just jump in and drive?

Thanks.

If you are only trickle charging it you can do that with the battery connected. If its been flat for any length of time you may well find it won't charge.

If you need it ? the Peugeot battery dis/re procedure :- Open bonnet, open drivers window, remove key from ignition, ensure all doors & boot are closed & nothing is left switched on,wait five minutes to let the BSi go to sleep. Disconnect battery and do what ever?................reconnect battery, wait five minutes, lean in through open window & switch on headlights, the BSi & dash should wake up,start car and go through all the controls.
I know this sounds long winded and you can get away without it,but this is what Peugeot recommend. (They are French!!??)
