Peugeot 106. 1999 1.1 Zest

Post by Gregg1100 »

My daughter in laws little 106 had a water hose break way from under inlet manifold. A little metal tube which is probably heat or cold sealed into bottom of manifold has rusted away.
Is this a regular occurrence and what steps can I take to fit a new one in- will have to be a home grown mod I expect ??
Are there inlet manifold gaskets available, or is it a silicon bead job ??
Thanks

This might be a different size but I repaired something similar on a 205 by removing all the old pipe and driving in a piece of half inch copper pipe. Recently on a corolla I found a similar problem but when cleaning out the hole discovered it to be threaded. I cleaned the threads and found a hose nipple which threaded in.

Thanks for that, BX.

Hose nipple ??

The thread was actually cut by myself;-10 mm which was too loose, then 12 mm. The item I had to screw in turned out to have a ¼ BSP thread, so will have to make something up. This was an air hose connector which had a tapered thread.
A 12 mm bolt will be my first buy- drill it out and lop off the head. Probably cock the first one up, so better buy 2. :-D

Yes a hose nipple or barb or attachment, depends who you are buying off. Probably taken off some air tool when I was fitting a PCL quick release fitting. You are probably using something similar. If you intend to drill through the bolt look for a 4.6 or similar low tensile as it will be much softer than 8.8. seal it with ptfe tape.
