Xantia S2 Window Regulator
Guys.
Hope you're all keeping well. Been off the scene for what seems like forever.
Sylv had an issue with the window in my S2 as she's borrowing it as I still haven't done her matrix.
Anyway, long story short. Glass dropped to bottom of door.
I've investigated it and the plastic clip which holds the glass has broke where one of the stainless steel cables locates.
I've been able to rebuild but it wouldn't last so...
Question is.
Has anyone had experience with the plastic clips you can be on Ebay for £6.99.
Just wonder about the longevity. I'm assuming they are non-genuine unless someone has a source with OEM.

Re: Xantia S2 Window Regulator
I've bought 2 from ebay. The green ones are ok. I did buy a "repair kit" with a new spool, clip and cables. The spool was the wrong one and the cable nipples would fit neither the spool or the clip. The clip was ok though.
The plastic peg retaining bit shown in the adverts don't fit. Keep the original wire one. You may have to bend it a bit smaller to fit the new clip.
Also check the rubber bush that goes through the window glass. If it is split/weak then there is a tendency for the clip to go out of line. That's what finished off my first clip. The bush is available at the dealers in bags of 5 (just right for a car with 4 windows!) They are about £3,50 for the 5.

Re: Xantia S2 Window Regulator
Thanks for that.
I decided to buy a brand new regulator off Ebay for only £40. Seller called me today and advised they can't find it so I'm in a dilemma.
Would anyone happen to have a green or white for front right kicking around that they could get into post first class for me today? If so, PM me. I'll try and keep an eye on my inbox but I am just too busy today.
Really could do without the additional stress.
Just bought two on Ebay both the seller's adverts stated that white and green ones were for Series 1 only which makes no sense. Tried calling them on their number and just no answer after 10 attempts. No answerphone either.
I appreciate it's short notice but they failed to answer their email promptly too so by the time I just decided to go ahead and buy both it went past their 3pm cut-off and now it states Monday delivery.
Gutted! Any help appreciated.
If all else fails, I am going to strip a Series 1 regulator down and pilfer a clip off there. Hope they're compatible. If anyone knows let me know as I could do without wasting any time whatsoever.
Here's a piccy if anyone is in doubt what I am rambling about.

Re: Xantia S2 Window Regulator
Regulator appears to be the same part no MK1 / 2 - although the bit that fits into the window is different - presumably 'improved' for MK2!

Re: Xantia S2 Window Regulator
All repaired. Will post pictures possibly tomorrow of original glass retaining clip for future reference of others.
In the meantime, one wire has come out of the connector. Cannot find the replacement look on service.citroen for the life of me which is probably a good job.
Is there anyway to effect a repair on this block does anyone know?

Re: Xantia S2 Window Regulator
Yes there is a way to effect a repair (or working bodge depending on your point of view). How confident are you with a small soldering iron?
On the other face of the connector block are the flat faces of all the individual connectors. It is possible to solder the wire directly to an individual connector and still have sufficient room to plug the connector block into the switch. I did this on mine some 2 years ago and it's still good.
Good luck

Re: Xantia S2 Window Regulator
Fairly confident. Do you mean the opposing face to that which the other wires are attached?
There are flat surfaces where the wires currently connect.

Re: Xantia S2 Window Regulator
Yes, that's correct, it's the face opposite the wires. It's a tight squeeze getting the block back into the switch but is possible. I'll try and get a photo of mine tomorrow, picture worth a thousand words etc.

electronmirror. That would be fantastic. Also a good reference for others for the future.
Did you try to solder to the top surface at all?
I am going to try and see if I can prise my way in also but I guess your photo will arrive before I get time to look at it again.

Repaired!
Here is my video on how to do it. Sorry about the aspect ratio - not sure why it has done that on tinypic.

Re: Xantia S2 Window Regulator
I managed to repair the wiring on this plug on my previous Xantia, where some of the wiring wasn't too good. I unclipped the cover at the other end of the plug, pushed the relevant connector through a short way, trimmed the damaged wires (you don't need to strip off any insulation, the connector manages that), removed the remnants of the original wire, pushed the tidied wires back in the hole until it stopped at the other side of the plug, pushed the connector back (might need a little force), and then (once all relevant wiring has been done) closed the cover again.

It all adds to the clarity if someone else has the problem. If I was an Octopus, I could have filmed myself doing the job. That would have been better but I'm not!
