C5: Case of the Sneaky Sensor

Post by addo »

I'm not sure whether to call for the Secret Seven or Scooby Doo, but either way here's the problem:

Erratic oil temperature gauge, C5 facelift.
Cannot find the gauge sender itself referenced in Service Citroën so no way of looking for interchanges to pick up a spare (used) item or buy new. On the car it looks undamaged but oily.

Don't want to plonk down the coin for a SEDRE session if it's not referenced there either.

I've set the gauge to supplied by ECU, not PSF1. I think it's actually intended to be PSF1 derived, but if I do this a fault pops up right away that doesn't disappear with a relay board exchange.

So I guess the first question, is where in Service Citroën, do they hide the sensor - what's it called?
Second question, is gauge malfunction common in the UK?

Anyone have light to shed on this one? I'm still short on clues.
