Anyone with a Lexia?

Post by Lawrence1973 »

Hello All,

I'm pretty desperate to get our Picasso running again.

A garage has looked at the car and their diagnosis is a potential EGR fault. I doubt a Lexia machine was used to diagnose.

The engine runs well but will barely advance when the throttle is depressed. After swapping a badly corroded EGR electrovalve, the problem is not resolved but has changed. Now the engine idles high and accelerates without activating the throttle - which is fun. Depressing the throttle does nothing to the engine revs.

I can't rule out faults with the various sensors including the MAF and I guess the EGR valve could be jammed open. I just don't know so, Is there anyone near Tring with a Lexia?

Cheers

Lawrence, I'm down in Twyford near Reading and could probably run up in the daytime on Thursday or Friday (possibly Tuesday) and scan it for you - If i can get the software working on my new laptop. I have the Lexia and CD, but need an XP machine or VM to install it on.

Thanks a lot Mike,

I have a new lap top running windows 8 but it has no CD driver.......
I'm also at work of course which will throw a spanner in the works. If you get the software working let me know but I think it will have to be an evening which might not work for you.

So grateful for the offer, let me know what you think.

Cheers

Oh, I'll get it running. This week it's tricky for me to do it in the evening as the missus is away until Saturday evening and I'm looking after our 4 year old, otherwise it wouldn't be a problem at all. I'm sure we can sort something out.

Mike, if push came to shove I have an external USB DVD drive if it would help.

It's not that James, I traded my little netbook in (as the wife needed a decent sized machine for her eyes, and for job hunting), and this one is a new Tosh Satellite Pro with 64-bit Windows 8 on it (and what a bizarre OS it is!), so I've lost my Lexia machine - it was ideal for it. I'll have to install Virtualbox on here and run XP on a VM from that.

DO you have a Torx 50 bit? :-p

Possibly. I'll check my toolkit tomorrow, when it's light.

Will an VM machine run truly in 32bit on a 64bit system?

Tis only a cheeky request Sir, to save me buying something I will use precisely once.

Yes, it will. I used to run Virtualbox with 32 bit WinXP in a VM and use Lexia on my older Dell PC which gave up the ghost back in September.

Sorry, Lawrence! Mike has just got a V6 Xantia with an airbag/horn issue, and the probable way to fix them is to replace the slip ring that is designed to prevent the cables from twisting and shearing. However, a Torx 50 bolt holds the steering wheel on.
