C5 Facelift model strut tops!

Having a poke around under bonnet of my 06 C5 2.0 HDi couldn't help but notice rust around O/S Strut Top.
.
After the problems with XM & Xantia would have thought Citroen would have put extra protection on.

So a another job to carry out, wire brush, rust inhibitor and waxoily stuff.

I replaced the strut tops on my Xantia when the car was 14/15 years old, before disaster struck. With what we hear about the design life of cars being 7-8 years (?) so far as the manufacturers are concerned, then I doubt if Citroen will have given a second thought to added protection. No good for those of us trying to extend the life of a car by another 10 years

Yes I suppose the oil in it could rot the rubber.

I've done it on my Xantia about 3 years ago that is now in storage so I can't tell if it has.
I'll have a look next time I visit it

C5 strut tops seem to start rusting, superficially at least, sooner than Xantia ones did.
I suppose Kurust or similar, followed by Hammerite, might help.
