If you're not in a big hurry, I could whip up the guide from the Citroen Service Documentation ... I think they're symmetrical, but just to check, you need the drivers side or passengers side (with the driver being on the right ... don't think of me asking this as strange, I have a left diver side car)?

As per this post- http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... ng#p343692" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"For the C5(X7) you're supposed to tilt the mirror downwards, force the glass outwards from the top with a blunt tool (plastic spatula type arrangement), and unclip the 8 fixing lugs. The service manual doesn't say anything about picking up the now broken bits of glass [-o< "

Hope that helps.
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

Thanks for the response, that would be great.

Yes drivers side on the right (UK car)

Thanks,

Was not sure if the model mentioned was a 2008 > or pre 2008 as the "X7" term meant nothing to me, still doesn't :-D

I'll wait and see what the previous chap manages to post so I have some confirmation of hymn sheets =D>

Thanks

indeed it is..... :-D

got the glass out in one piece, left the glass dangling on the wires...felt as though i'd pull the element apart if tugged any harder.
mine doesn't look the same as the PDF, there doesn't appear to be the 8 clips? still came out with prising and a look away and trying to ignore the plastic moaning

Image

broke 1 end of a rocker bar that runs parallel to the motors whilst unclipping, catches the remaining end whilst trying to re-fit, not too sure what that does? can't see where it clips/pushes whatever with the mirror?
Image

needed to remove the front top cover to access the Temp Sensor, you need at least 6 hands to unclip it properly, 2 if you're brave, only when it's off can you see how some of the clips work. broke off 2 but it has gone back on OK.

sensor replaced, wires spliced and soldered/shrink wrapped....tested with wires reversed just in case!!

now the fun part!!!

top cover clipped back in place, easy

PDF says refitting is a reversal of removing? Ye'right [-X

at approx 12 and 3 on the pic of back of glass are 2 small holes which hold the 2 small toothed plastic rods that mate up with the 2 motors.
the trick is to position those somewhere close whilst putting the glass in place
Yup, you guessed it, bent/broke both after several attempts
so, i can live without the electrics for a while, just need to clip glass back in temporarily and tape up.
Can i get it it 'clipped' back?, can i b******?
Not too sure whether it's the rubber boot around motors, plastic not quite lining up, notches etc stopping it going back fully or does it just 'swivel' loosely and is held in by the motor adjuster rods? clips i've broken and not noticed?

So looks like a 99% certain failure trip to the Dealer to ask about parts...'sorry Sir, complete assembly only' with a price tag high enough to get Greece out of the mire or trawling Breakers yards

At least i'll know what temperature it is when i pull over on the M'way and side swipe someone

right then....upon further inspection in daylight it appears that the way the unit has come off may not necessarily be the right way.
i now can see what does what....

Image
the ring does come away from the glass unit, there are 8 small clips but not too sure you could unclip whilst still in housing? possibly i had the leverage in too far and took out the wrong pieces?
this ring in turn is held onto the main unit by the rocker arm with the smallest 'bobble' you'll ever see, the ring can rotate slightly on the rocker so this arm is all that holds the mirror to unit.
ideally when removing this arm needs to be prised off or the ring off the rocker arm, either scenario is difficult and scary.

still doesn't help me as as i have neither a complete rocker arm or the 2 white toothed rods so glass is now held in by Duck tape #-o

Here's the mirror parts list, another PDF ... :) ... This model doesn't have auto-dipping (memory function) and the glass is not electrochromed ... everything that has a part number (page 2) should be order-able from your Citroen service/dealer ... the problem is that, unfortunately, smaller parts aren't available, only "blocks" ...

:D ... my Citroen Service knows me pretty well, that I'll come up with not only the exact part item, but the part price as well ... vast is the Internet these days, you can find almost anything ... including the kitchen sink ... :D ... so the only thing they have to do is order the part

Hurray !!! we has functioning mirror again =D>
the part i purchased was actually the complete motor unit for mirror movement, covers off, 3 torx screws, unplug the connector and reverse.
turns out the mirror glass does 'just' pop on with light pressure
