Dyane / Arcadiane bonnet release cable / rod question
Hello all
I have a bit missing somewhere. People have been telling me that for years, but now there's also one on the Acadiane. Am surprised there aren't more spare parts left over after the rebuild....
The bonnet latch is released by pulling a rod inside the vehicle. This is about 14" long and has a loop at one end (inside) and a 90° bend at the other. The latch mechanism has a cable attached to it with a bolt and two differently sized nuts at one end. This cable is somehow attached to the rod. There must be at least one missing part. You can see from the photo that these two items won't naturally fit together.
Any advice is most welcome. Am always happy to pass on what knowledge I have about old Citroëns, although it's limited to 2cv6s and this Acadiane. Photos of my current vehicle are in my other post.

Re: Dyane / Arcadiane bonnet release cable / rod question
if i recall correctly there should be a a length of metal about 3inch's in length, and like a channel/three sided,
the lower end has like a small key hole shaped hole in it that the rod locates into, the top end just a hole for the cable to go through,
then about half way down it has another hole which sits onto a peg/stud on the inner wing,
i think it similar to the GS type

Re: Dyane / Arcadiane bonnet release cable / rod question
Many thanks for the info and photos, Citronut and Olduns. I have no idea where I may have put that piece. Can't remember having taken one off, but there must have been something.
Will have a search. At least now I know what I'm looking for. Much appreciated.
The back of my engine bay needs dusting, but I can live with the odd imperfection for now.

No idea where that bit could be. Will have to fabricate something. Do you have the dimensions or a photo showing the other angle?
Whilst we are on the subject, any idea where these bit go? First one (the rod with one flat end, whole thing is 31cm long) might attach to a front wing somewhere, the other two (on my hand for scale) I have no idea.
Have posted thumbnail of whole vehicle on my first post, as it is relevant to that one and I don't want to use too much of your space.

Re: Dyane / Arcadiane bonnet release cable / rod question
the first bit is the air filter support bar, fits between the top of the gear box and the back bottom of the air filter box,
not sure/dont remember were the other two brackets go, maybe in the glove box if you had one that is

Re: Dyane / Arcadiane bonnet release cable / rod question
Update:
Have checked and the rod thingy isn't an air filter support. That is present, shorter and thicker.
Have found the missing bit for the bonnet release cable.

Sort of @ hellrazor, yes.
Latest question is.... I've replaced the bonnet stay, but where does the other end sit when the bonnet is closed? Sounds really obvious, but can't find a home for it...
The rod in the first photo might be something left over from the Land Rover. Hmmmm.

Hurrah. Have found and fitted the bit that was missing, the bonnet release now works. Many thanks for the photo.
Everything else is still a mystery.
