Is it possible that the reluctor ring for the left rear wheel has failed (cracked or missing/clogged teeth)? If the ring has cracked that would mean it would be loose, and could spin at a different rate that the wheel itself. If it has missing/clogged teeth hat would produce a 'count' error. Either way, the ABS system would show a mismatch from that sensor.

The downside is that (if the hub is like that on a Xantia) the reluctor ring is part of the rear hub. You cannot replace the ring on its' own; you have to replace the whole hub.
