C5 exclusive heater resistor, where is it??

Post by deano1970 »

ok, I thought I knew where the resistor was on my 2.2 hdi exclusiv estate, but I cannot locate it? looked under the driver side near clutch, nothing obvious and looked passenger side, thought I found it, undid the screw with the small bolt head but it was just some sort of filter beneath it.....must be here somewhere, hidden away, just need somebody who knows where to find it on the 2.2 hdi please?? cheers.............

On a 52 plate, it IS near the clutch pedal, but RIGHT at the BACK of the heater box. Its rather not obvious, but has a green connector on the plug/socket..

nice one. That is probably cheaper than a repair?? I just need to find now how to get the dam thing out,lol.....I managed it on my other C5 but cannot see how I remove the plastic casing that seems to be hiding it?? on my other C5 there were two screws with small bolt heads and then the resistor slid out,but I can't see how to get into this?? maybe I will just buy one from e bay and take it to the garage to fit it??

I cant see how a 2.2 can be different to a 2.0 inside the car.. LOL..

I seem to recall it being hidden around the back a bit, on an 03 2.0 8v HDi..

correct, it is, you have to ,or at least,I do,bend the covering panel back,I wedge it under the clutch pedal, lol, and usually you can see the screws that need to be undone, but when i am looking,it is just a black plastic cover and I can't see how i get into it?? I was surprised to not find it,it probably is there, once I remove the black plastic cover, which I don't know how to do??

I assume that if its an exclusive it has climate control in which case it should be by the clutch pedal. There is no black plastic cover to remove just two screws and then the whole unit slides out of the heater ducting - it should be easy to find if you follow the wiring to the two green plugs and it should slide out without taking the plugs out. You may have to bend the front of the center console out of the way to gain easy access to the rear screw but it should not be necessary to move it to retract the unit.

hi duracell......this is the bit I don't understand. I had a 2.0 hdi and it went on that, climate control etc,and it was by the clutch pedal,my brother had a 2.2 hdi hatchback and his went, and was in exactly the same place.....but,when I bend back the console cover,as i said, I fold it out the way under the clutch pedal, there is a black plastic cover and the screws that need to be undone are not visible, that is what has thrown me....As the general assumption appears to be that it should be there, I will have another look tomorrow,I just remember there being a black plastic cover where there should in fact,as you point out,be the scres to allow me access to the resistor module.....very frustrating.....will report back tomorrow......

no mate, nothing, just a black plastic casing of some sort......that's what i can't figure out,I know where it should be cos I have changed two.......might order a cheap one off e bay and get garage to do it, doubt they would charge much If I have the part, and I use same garage all the time so should be ok,let them figure it out??

My 2.2 was a 2003 03 reg and it is up by the clutch, IIRC there was no cover, I pulled the carpet down and say the green connector and there was a screw with a hex head at each end of it, and once I found it it really is a 2 minute job. I think i had to be a bit of a contortionist getting to it. In fact that may well have destroyed my back giving me my current problems :rofl2:
