heater resistor
ok,
heater packed up today on my c5 2.2 hdi exclusive 52 plate......all the ones on e bay say not compatible with my vehicle? even though under compatible vehicles they have the 2.2 hdi from 2001 onward?? also, I know where it is,it went on my last one, but how do i remove the panel safely that hides it(next to the clutch)? last time i remember having to bend it right out the way and wedge it under the clutch pedal, surely this can't be the right way to do it? im surprised it didn't snap I bent it that far,,,,,,must be easier way? cheers...

Re: heater resistor
I have had this trouble with ebay sites, they usually don't know what they are talking about, try re entering the details with a different version i.e hatch rather than estate or manual rather than auto or vice versa. If its listed as fitting your basic model it probably does.

cheers peter.
now my problem is i can't find it on my car?? looked on drivers side near clutch, nothing obvious, then looked on passenger side, undid what I thought was it, but there was some kind of filter behind the housing,so do you know where I find the resistor on a 2.2 exclusive estate?? must be there somewhere, just need some guidance on getting to it? thanks......

Re: heater resistor
you must be lucky peter, seem to be a common failure on c5's....mine went on the last one we had and my brothers went on his,and his was a 2.2 hatchback, mine was a 2.0 hdi and they were in the same place, but it doesn't seem to be on my 2.2 hd.....might just buy the unit and take it local indy and let them sort it

Re: heater resistor
the resistor pack and fan motor are in the N/S of the heater box between that and the glove box ( separate points though ), acording to service citroen, and without your chassis/VIN No. to confirm specific to your car,
here is a price and part No. for the resistor pack
Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00006441T6 CONTROL MODULE 49.41 GBP 59.29 GBP 59.29 GBP
obviously if you send me the last 8 digits of your chassis/VIN No. i will make sure its the right one

Re: heater resistor
cheers malcolm, I shall go and make a note of vin number shortly, but where exactly is it? I thought I found it,looked to be correct shape but there was some kind of white filter in it?I tried to you tube it and the guy accessing his was under the actual glove box, can't be sure it was a C5 though, last 2 i did it was just to the left of the clutch....I will get those numbers to you in the next 15 mins,cheers....dean

Re: heater resistor
the filter is a pollen filter, the resistor pack is between the bulkhead and the pollen filter, and the fan is above the air con tubes, which run above the pollen fliter,
here is price and part No. hope your sitting down

Re: heater resistor
Which is odd, because as Malc says, service.citroen clearly shows it on the other side, in front of the pollen filter! Even Citroen don't know how they built their cars.....

Re: heater resistor
On standard air conditioning on LX models the heater resistor is in the left (passenger in the UK)footwell - on climate control models such as the SX the mosfet fan control unit is in the right foot well. I haven't looked at them but I suspect the diagrams used on Citroen service are the same regardless of model.

Re: heater resistor
ok,thanks to every one for their input.....found the resistor unit.....it is indeed where the others are I have changed, I could only see a plastic cover,so I removed the pice of shroud/carpet near the clutch and I could then see the screws to undo........managed to undo them(top one was a pain in the ass) so difficult to get to,especially lying on an old blanket outside with it hail stoning.....Anyway,I got a replacement unit off e bay....£22 and put it back together, even managed to get top screw back in and hey presto, heater back to full working order......phew.......not figured out which way round the bit of carpet goes back in yet but I will sort that out when weather is a little better..main thing is,heater is back on.....worst thing ever in this weather, specially with windows steaming up etc........cheers everyone.....happy again now....just got to dry off
