Bonnet catch

Hi all. The bonnet catch on my cx doesn't secure properly, so the bonnet keeps popping up an inch (the safety catch keeps it from opening immediately though). I've tried adjusting the positioning of the "loop" on the bonnet itself forward and back to see if it helps but it doesn't.

I do find I have to pull the release lever quite hard beneath the steering wheel to release it on the occasions it does close properly so I'm wondering if the cable is stretched. Is there a cable tension adjustment bolt somewhere?

Anything else I should be looking at? I read somewhere that a loose bonnet is quite a common fault on the CX so maybe there's a common remedy?

It seems to be higher on the driver's side (side of the bonnet support arm) when it does pop though there doesn't seem to be any obstruction beneath.

if i remember correctly, the inner cable at the bonnet catch end, passes through a small hole in the operating lever of the bonnet lock, and loops over on its self then is fastened off with the likes of

if there were to much free play this would not cause it to not lock,

if it were over tight then this would cause the issue you are having,

one side of the bonnet raised more that the other, is adjusted by screwing in/out one or the other rubber buffers at each end of the bonnet slam panel,

Sorry Citronut only just noticed this. I'm in the middle of a major house refurbishment so the chances of me getting away at the weekend are pretty slim for the next few months!

Extremely late reply, but I recently faced a similar problem on my CX, and the culprit was the spot weld at the bottom of the vertical brace had let go. It looked fine with the bonnet up, but closing force flexed the slam panel down and the latch mechanism never properly engaged..
