C5 2.0.Hdi occasionally stopping cured - I think

Unread post by Peter.N. »

I changed the engine oil, there was only about 3 1/2 litres in it when I drained it out, it was low but not very although the 'low oil level' light was coming on sometimes when I first started it. I have since done the same trip to Cornwall several times without incident, it stopped twice in the same place, at the bottom of a hill, but now sails past it.

I can only conclude that there is an engine shut down system for low oil pressure although I have never heard of it. I have since done about 600 miles with no oil light and no stopping.

Peter when my Berlingo blew the turbo I had a momentary low oil pressure warning on the dash which immediately killed the engine.

I had no rattle or anything Dave it just cut out, but I noticed when I came in through the forest down a steep slope the 'stop' light came on and the engine cut out, as I was only going slowly then I noticed it, as soon as I got it on level ground again it started.
