Hi
I have recently bought a 206cc 2 litre petrol with just 40,000 miles.
I noticed a small pool of fresh looking engine oil on top of the gearbox casing, on closer inspection there are signs of oil as high up as the inlet rocker cover and on the right hand side of the engine.
I removed the coil pack and it looks like there may be a leak from the back of the inlet cam cover - but I think the oil may be leaking from the casting holding the cam shaft down, especially on the right hand side ?
Is this a common leak area ?
Is the gasket on the casting holding the cam shaft down originally paste or preformed ?
Is there a method for renewing the gasket without removing the cam belt, ie a way to hold the camshaft in place when the casting is taken off ?
