LHM octopus. Broken hose/pipe

Post by romie »

Bugger.

Whist trying to repair one LHM leak I managed to break off the lowest LHM pipe from the bottom of the 5 way manifold that's attached to the side of the LHM reservoir.
:(

It would be the top most pipe of the three shown in the below image.
It broke off right at the plastic hosing.

Has anyone managed to replace a pipe into that or are they permanently welded into that hosing?

(Damn, damn, damn)

Cheers, romie

Hi Malcolm, I've pm'd you :)

But it looks like a bit of a nightmare to fit if it is the right one?

Have you seen this happen and figured out a simple fix?

I was wondering if there is a centre hose coupling in there, and so, cut the plastic around where the pipe goes in, remove the old bit of pipe and push a new pipe on the hose fitting? Bit of a long shot? :/

(On a completely unrelated note, I got told by the dvla that you only need to SORN a vehicle once now, instead of every sodding year! Finally they've realised what a stupid situation that was).

If you are crafty, cut away the black plastic outer with a coping saw. There's a white nylon inner with hose barb. Slip your fuel tubing on, a lovely jubilee clamp and away you go.

can you tell me were any/all the pipe ends terminate/ come/go from to,

because the drawing on service citroen does not look quite like the picy you posted above,

the octapussy i think it is is part No. 5270.N6 which shows as NFP, and was £174.62,

one branch/tentacle on the one with the part No. above goes to the pump,

and some of the other branch's

come back from the regulator, steering pinion, both front struts and front height corrector, and other points as well

Hey, thanks for post.
!Yup that's exactly what I found this morning before I read this message!

Here we go for anyone else with this problem:

Before when hose snapped off flush to manifold:

Then after I skinned it:

Hopefully this will help others when they get that - oh crap! Moment :)

Hi, many thanks for trying to find out if your part would fit my car :)

What's H/A? Hydroactive suspension?
I've heard the hydraulic suspension called many things and am unclear to the differences between the names but my car does have hydraulic suspension with the green spheres.

It's ok, I've fixed the issue as shown above.
That's not to say I shouldn't replace the octopus as it's probably turned extremely brittle by now :(

The image I posted was not of my car, but of a random image I found on-line, it was just to show the problem.

Thanks, romie

anyone know of a replacement 5-way hose manifold to replace the one in the above pictures?
I'm very doubtful on this as it looks like the hose fittings are of different sizes on the same manifold! ugh.
Spose I should fabricate one up before the current one breaks :/

Is that an outlet or return manifold?

I wondered if I could block the hole where the hose broke off from and just poke the same pipe back into the LHM reservoir through the breather in some way?

Oh and anyone know a source of replacement hose, 10mm O.D, 2.4 I.D?

i just had another look on service citroen, and although the oil back harness i am selling does not show with your chassis No.

it seems very strange as in the suspension parts list under your chassis No. it shows part No.s for hydractive suspension,

but in the characteristics list i pm'ed to you,

it says your car is without hydractive suspension

what size/diameter popes feed the front suspension struts
