Engine check light on. Engine fault. 3 beeps.

Post by jotto »

Take the car out for it's first real run since we bought it ( 53 2.0. hdi Xsara Picasso ) and as soon as I started her I got the CEL on 3 beeps and a message in the dash saying engine fault.
I have replaced the MAF and didn't have the light on before or after.

I guess I need to plug it in and get a diagnosis but am awaiting tools and software.

Seems to drive ok as far as I can tell.

Not good after buying this as our galaxy was giving us problems and is now off the road.

Next door neighbours dog woke me up at about 1.30am this morning howling.....didnt stop till about 6am so had plenty of time to think about this.

I had been wanting to fit the MAF for days. I removed the old one, only to find the new one was actually an old used one returned to the supplier. Then the rains came and it was just too wet to do anything. When I eventually did change it ( in the rain ) I was in a bit of a rush to check it.....drove well......

I forgot to connect the cable........... :hb:

Now just waiting for the light to reset itself, failing that will be ordering some diagnostic equipment later today to keep on top of her.
