MOT looming

Unread post by Stempy »

Gonna need at least the centre exhaust section which has come apart at the weld which joins the cat section to the rearwards pipe. Mr Citroen wants £1711.49 for a replacement :rofl2: I could buy 2 more whole cars for that so opted for a fleabay special. Still a bit eye watering at £187 but just about bearable in the post Xmas doldrums. Hope that's all it will need.

No, but the cost reflects the fact that it has the second stage cat built into it so not gold but other other precious metals are certainly involved....

Don't know if it's too late but Jaystock are the cheapest by far and give you an allowance for the old cat too, and free delivery. If you need a link I can do it later when I get home.

Thanks but I've already parted with my wedge :( No prices on the web site and I'm scared to ring them and find out I could have got it for less

I think I'll have to put up a link in the recommended services section, obviously a V6 is going to be different but I recently got a whole system for the Saxo including the cat and all new fixings and hangers for £145. Kwik fit wanted £230 for the cat alone fitted, whole system over £400. Never had a problem with Jaystock's stuff either.

Had to buy a windscreen washer pump too as it only works about 20% of the time, but that was a bit more reasonable @ £6, in fact the Citroen OEM ones are only £13 but they are obviously not particularly reliable. I'll be hoping for some more clement weather to get these jobs done before MOT day arrives.

It seems there are places that will buy the old cats so will investigate that route to recoup some outlay.

For what it's worth, the refund for the old cat from Jaystock was £25, so they can't be all that valuable. Makes you wonder why so many get stolen.
Most scrap metal dealers will buy your old cat if you take it in.

I sold a Genuine PSA hdi 110 cat for about 110 quid..

However a NON genuine psa v6 24v esj cat got just 25 quid. So the original genuine cats are worth a lot more..

Well the old one is genuine but the new one certainly isnt. Think I'll list it and see what happens.

When i listed the hdi one i cleaned up the numbers on it and took a closeup clear picture and put it on the listing so they knew it was genuine...

Just sold a well knackered Cat from my 1.9TD Xant to my local merchant-£40. The weld had gone as the down pipe joins it.I replaced with a straight pipe.
I always take all my scrap to a merchant now - wait til I have a trailer full and go in- soon adds up with discs, old wheels, silencer boxes. batteries, radiators + a washing machine.....

Managed £87 last weekend - not bad for a tidy up!
