how to remove the speedo c5

hi c5 2002 hdi how difficult is it to remove the speedo from the dash board

Simple, two butter knives slide under the bottom (feel around for the plastic tongues at about 6cm in from each side) and pull the bottom towards you, just one plug to disconnect and it's out. You need the steering wheel adjusted to the lowest and farthest out position for room.

No. Stick a couple of flat blade underneath the pod in the gap between the dash pod and the dash, and lever gently. The entire unit will pop out. I used a couple of table knives.

thanks for info chaps the reason im taking it out is that the speedo and rev counter both go past the zero mark and both register low .doing 40 registers 20 and rev counter reads 0 when engine running both work ,its od how doth have gone at the same time . thanks again c machin.

There are 2 dot's on the base of the panel that show you where to put the plastic levers in.

thanks all for info any one any ideas why both gauges read low ie ,speedo and rev counter

Common problem Colin, mine underread by 8mph, simple fix. If you take it to a dealer they would whack in a new one and charge about £400

micky 707 what was the cause of the problem and what was the repair you did ,and why did my rev counter go slow at the same time both read slow any info much appreciated
